1. Fast cooling speed (up to 106℃/s), belonging to the rapid solidification process, easy to obtain fine-grained structure or produce new phases that cannot be obtained in equilibrium state, such as non-stable phase, amorphous state, etc.;

2. The cladding layer and the substrate are firmly metallurgically bonded or interfacially diffused, with low dilution rate and strong controllability. The welding focal length and welding penetration can be controlled as needed, and then the welding dilution rate can be controlled;

3. The parts strengthened and repaired by laser cladding have little thermal impact and deformation, only the surface is melted during processing, and the heat-affected zone of the substrate is small. Generally, 0.1-0.5mm;

4. The substrate and the cladding material are metallurgically bonded, and the bonding strength is equivalent to that of the parent material;

5. The thickness and hardness range of the cladding layer is large, the cladding layer is dense, without defects such as pores, slag inclusions, cracks, etc., and the hardness of the cladding layer can reach 18-60HRC;

6. There is almost no restriction on the selection of powders, and high-melting-point alloys can be deposited on the surface of low-melting-point metals;

7. Laser is suitable for long-distance transmission, and large parts can be repaired on site;

8. Laser cladding has the characteristics of non-contact welding, and cladding welding can be performed on some grooves and deep holes;

9. Handheld cladding has strong flexibility, and complex-shaped parts can be repaired smoothly, eliminating the trouble of programming or automation;

The specific operation process of laser cladding to repair the barrel of a die-casting machine is as follows:

1. Preparation: clean the surface to be repaired to ensure that there are no impurities, oxides, etc. on the surface;

2. Determine the cladding parameters: including laser power, scanning speed, laser beam diameter, etc.;

3. Cladding spraying: send metal powder or wire into the cladding area, melt it through the laser beam and spray it evenly on the repaired surface;

4. Coating treatment: perform subsequent processing on the coating, such as grinding, polishing, etc.
